Thank you for your replay and I found new clue here. So, Design & Production Premium suites can be set to "Access content directly from a distribution point when needed by the running task sequence" so long as the AIR installs are skipped.

Even more so, now that the main install works, the Captivate 4.0.1 updater works silently as well using the same methods I've used for Design Premium & Production Premium. Once all the Captivate bits run from a local source, it's happy running as the SYSTEM account.

I've created silent installers for the CS4 Design Premium & Production premium suites by following this guy's article: I've tried creating an AdobeUberInstaller.xml file by using the CS4 Deployment Toolkit, and while I can successfully create the files and edit the paths so that it actually works, the installer hangs at AIRApplicationRunner.exe according to the logs.
